Location intelligence
Where is my stuff? I see I have received them but where did I keep it? I have hundreds of equipment coming up for calibration, how would I ever locate them?
These are some of the questions faced by lab administrators, data center operators on a daily basis. In an enterprise that deals with 100s of thousands of assets at multiple locations, the problem of locating an asset, doing frequent inventory count and ensuring optimal utilization of its assets becomes an exponentially increased problem.
Fixed Asset Procedures by GASB 34
To comply with the fixed asset capitalization and inventory policy adopted by the Government Board, and to ensure compliance with the GASB 34 (Government Accounting Board Statement 34) reporting requirements, all district assets must be properly tagged and entered into the fixed asset system.
The fixed asset capitalization and inventory policy is summarized below:
» Capital Assets
1. Capital assets have an estimated useful life of one year or more, and
2. The unit cost of the assets is $15,000 or more.
RFID Powder
The new record on the world's smallest and thinnest RFID tags is by Hitachi. Tiny miracles of miniaturization, these chips measure just 0.05 x 0.05 millimeters.
The previous record-holder, the Hitachi mu-chip, is just 0.4 x 0.4 millimeters.
These chips have a 128-bit ROM for storing a unique 38 digit number. Hitachi used semiconductor miniaturization technology and electron beams to write data on the chip substrates to achieve the new, smaller size.
